It would probably be
instructive to find out exactly what is in your city's water -- as Phyllis
pointed
out, the flouride levels are different in different parts of her metro area.
Just looked at the 2003 water report for our city.
The fluoride level from 2 samples was 0.06ppm. The maximum allowed was 4, so
this is well below. Lead however was 34.0 with an action level =4. There
was a note on the report telling of the lead level risk to infants and young
children and a recomendation to "flush your tap for 30 seconds to 2 minutes
before using tap water" and the suggestion that one might want to have their own
water tested. I will most definitely bring up your suggestion about using
bottled distilled water to make formula at our next MCH staff meeting and discuss
it with the Center for Ecological Technology which administers the grant to
educate new parents about Environmental Risks (Healthy Beginings Program).
