I just opened the ILCA Globe to review the 2012 AAP statement and found this sentence:

"New data suggest that mother’s own milk can be stored at refrigerator temperature (4°C) in the NICU for as long as 96 hours. Data on thawing, warming, and prolonged storage need updating."

In our NICU, we have the protocol of 48 hours for refrigerated milk. Wondering if anyone else is using the 4-day guideline as stated in the AAP?

Thanks,
Brenda Phipps, BS, IBCLC
