Sounds like pretty soon they are going to need an advocate in the other sense.
Does WIC have a lawyer ??    I am not in favor of getting litigious with
doctors generally -- nobody who is more cooperative when a gun is held to
their head stays happy long term with the person who held it there.    But in
this case the doc -- **assuming mom's reports are accurate** -- seems so far
out of line that he needs to know that the disapproval is not coming only from
somebody with "social trouble" but from someone who has the capacity to judge
*him* right back.    Sometimes, too, if there is the shadow of a legal threat
in the background, you might be able to be the contrasting "good cop" and have
your lactation advice taken more seriously as a result.

Sorry to be negative, but this guy -- again, *assuming mom is a good reporter*
-- sounds like he has a big problem and needs to fix it.
