Hi Heather,
I don't feel the menopause is the culprit. The stopping nursing for 1 month
is the key, in my opinion. Basically mom is relactating and there is alot of
info about that. We don't know her history, she may have been bf another
child prior to adoption, or has she relactated from a long ago lactation, or
did she do adoptive lactation, which would be the case if she had never
lactated before.

The basic premise is to create a demand, by having alot of suckling at the
breast, if baby will do it, and she can use a supply line there. Or if baby
is not suckling at breast, then mom should try to increase breast
"stimulation" by expressing very often, like 8-10x per day. I think skin to
skin, even when not breastfeeding, would be very helpful too.

I would also investigate what pump she is using, if that is the way she is
expressing, and what size flange. Also if mom pumps during the day only or
also at night. The mom says she is on several galactagogues, but I think she
may not realize that creating the demand is the most important thing. And
you can reassure her about menopause not being the reason.

<<I pump about every 3-4 hours during the day??>>
