Actually, if you find a homebirth midwife who will take you (which SURELY
in california you can!) you can have your homebirth no matter what ACOG
says. I live in Nashville TN where one midwiffery practice was just kicked
out of one of the largest hospitals in town. BUT, I choose to homebirth,
and self pay (payments of course) for my births and we have several area
CPMs to choose from. There are at least two homebirth CPMs (certified
professional midwives) here, including the one who attended my last birth
who attend VBACS - one is bring your own doc I think and the other just
got a physician to back up her VBACS. It CAN be done. You might have to
search high and low but you can get it.
