The members  of the Section on Breastfeeding requested to review the  
statement  before it was finalized.  (We would have added a footnote that we  
 did not 
agree.) Our request was not honored.  It is  being  discussed at the Section 
Board meeting at the AAP NCE (Oct 8-11th)  as  we speak.  As a division of 
the 
AAP, the Section itself  cannot put out a  press release saying we disagree, 
but 
the Academy  of Breastfeeding Medicine can,  and will.
I find this scandalous. When the AAP statement on Breastfeeding and the Use  
of Human Milk was redone earlier this year, the Nutrition Section was allowed 
a  footnote that they disagreed with the 6 months exclusive breastfeeding  
recommendation. Why not a footnote for this?
