Sue said: " have a mother that breastfed for 2 years, stopped 4 months
ago,( no
breastfeeding at all in the past 4 months) who 3 days ago began to
actively lactate again. She reports feeling very full and leaking.
Believes if baby latched on, could feed without any trouble.
She is not interested in restarting breastfeeding....gave her
guidelines on dealing with engorgement, and set up appt for her to
see MD to check for hormonal changes, r/o pregnancy etc. Any body out
there dealt with this before? Thanks, LT Sue Adamson"

Was she suddenly around breastfeeding babies or discussions about
breastfeeding? I had more than one Peer Counselor relactate when they came
to a three day breastfeeding peer counselor training. I did it myself when
I went to ILCA after weaning ten months before. I started feeling what
seemed like a subtle MER tingle and checked later and there was definitely
milk there! The mind is a powerful thing! I don't think pregnancy would
cause it but the MD would know of other possible causes.
