I have had much success with mom wearing a shell for inverted nipples while awake until healed. I have seen moms with wounds at the base of the nipple(s) that have not healed for weeks to months because the skin edges try to heal back together betweed feeds and get ripped apart every few hours. These wounds must heal by secondary intention, so the shell puts pressure in the bra at the base of the nipple to hold the edges apart.

Where is the rash??
