A BREASTFEEDING GROUP SLAMS NEW MANNERS GUIDE

LONDON (Reuters) - A British group campaigning for better baby care
Wednesday condemned a new guide on etiquette and manners which says
breast-feeding in public is unacceptable.

``It's ridiculous and nonsense,'' said a spokeswoman for the National
Childbirth Trust, which backs breast-feeding.

``Lots of people do it, including famous people like the Spice Girls,''
she told
Reuters.

Media reports quoted Debrett's New Guide to Etiquette and Modern Manners
as saying ``many...find the sight embarrassing, even revolting''.

``It is bad manners to expel any liquid from any orifice in public and
breast-feeding is no different,'' said the guide's author John Morgan.
