I am working with a baby currently with orange stools. They appeared by 2
weeks of age. Alse VERY mucousy. At 2 1/2 weeks, when I first saw him,
there were also a few red flecks in it. It tested very heme positive.
(positive for blood) Mom has avoided dairy, and they improved for a short
while. She is now on the "Elimination Diet".

So in this case the orange color was from small amounts of blood dispersed
evenly throughout the yellow stool. Yellow + red = orange.

So I would heme test it.
