Research by Hill and Aldag in the UK shows that mothers who will need to
pump long term (premie moms) are most likely to have a full supply if
they are making 750ml a day by 2 weeks postpartum. This is about 23
oz. I encourage moms who are EPing to aim for 32 oz (1000ml) per day by
one month, for long term sufficiency, and this has worked well. I've
had quite a few clients who needed to pump for a year or more due to
their child's condition.
