Hi everyone:

I am brand new to this list, so I will begin with a brief introduction. My
name is Lori J. Isenstadt. I have just completed the Blueprint Project
with BSC and will now concentrate on studying for the "big" exam this July.

I have wanted to subscribe to this list for a while now, but was afraid
that the amount of mail would distract me from doing my work. I figured
once I finished the schoolwork, that it would be "safe" to join.

Now that I have done so, I am afraid it is still not "safe", as it will
distract me from my studying.... Have I mentioned that I am easily
distracted???

I am open to whatever tips you have on studying for the IBCLC exam. What
books have you found most helpful. I have purchased Linda Smith's practice
exam book. Any others that you might recommend? How did you get to feel
comfortable enough for the visual part of the exam? The breastfeeding
Atlas has been helpful, but is that enough? Thaks for any info you can
share with me.

I am the mother of three breastfed children. They are now 17, 14 and
almost 12. I too, figured out how long I was in the pregnant and nursing
mode - 9 years - AND enjoyed ALMOST all of it. In the working with
childbearing woman field: I have been a Certified Childbirth Educator for
13 years now. I am certified as a birth doula and postpartum doula. I
have also been a group facilitator for 14 years. This has also brought me
a great deal of pleasure - giving back to the communities in which I have
lived in. I absolutely love facilitating groups of newly postpartum women
and providing them with a safe and comfortable atmosphere in which to
discuss their feelings.

I just joined this list, so I hope that my introduction is within the
limits and I did not go on too much. Thanks in advance for all the
wonderful learning and sharing I plan on participating in, on lactnet.

Sincerely,

Lori
