Linda asks about a newborn who succumbed to Herpes.  My understanding  is 
that it can be transmitted in utero on the basis of even just the father's  
history.  Neither parent has to have an active lesion.  If this baby  had become 
ill prior to birth, it may be that the infection was just too far  advanced for 
the breastmilk antibodies to impact.  Babies have been born  with terrible 
brain damage due to this virus.  Mother had no history and  father hadn't had 
outbreaks in years.  It is a NASTY virus.
 
Does anybody have more information?
