from what i'm gathering, the family is losing their home, she
homeschools the other 6 children and the last few were all pretty
small as well, so it just sort of didn't catch her attention until
this last visit to the dr. she also does not go in for well visits and
so had not taken the baby in for a few mos. this dr. is not actually a
ped and i had one other mom seeing her that i had an unsettling
experience with. that mom told me that the dr. told her she was far
too thin to be making enough fat in her milk for her baby. baby was
about 10th percentile and not gaining fast enough for doc. the baby
was 14 wks old and the dr. asked mom if her milk was still yellow at
all. mom said 'no, it's white now, has been for a while'. the dr. said
the yellow is fat and you've got none left, you need to start eating a
lot of cheeseburgers and if the baby doesn't start gaining faster, you
need to give formula. i almost had to use my index finger under my
chin to shut my mouth on that one ! if i know a mom of mine uses this
dr., i always hope and pray bfing is already going fairly well...
