I have a mom with a problem that has me stumped. (Permission to post)
This mom decided early on to pump and bottle feed, partially because she had
overenthusiastic breasts and breastfeeding was difficult due to the choking
and sputtering of babe. I gave her suggestions about how to decrease
supply, but she chose this way....

Fast forward several months. She decided she wanted to wean off the pump
by the time she was to go back to work which is first of September.
Meanwhile she is pumping about 7 times a day for about 26 minutes per pumping in
order to empty the breasts. She had one episode of mastitis when she
didn't pump as often as she usually did which scared her to death. So we
started around the first of July with the usual sort of thing -- space out the
pumpings. She couldn't. So we tried decreasing the time she was pumping by
a minute to two minutes a day, and then spacing out the pumpings. She got
down to 10 minutes of pumping, and could go about 6 to 7 hours during the
day, but not at night because the breasts would get too full. She tried
peppermint, sudafed, cabbage around the clock, icy cold compresses, everything
except birth control pills and sage.

As of last night she was running a temp of 100.4, so told her to call her
OB. I also want her checked for a pituitary tumor. She's so uncomfortable
at night she can't sleep -- I had her pumping just to comfort when she got
uncomfortably full, rather than going by the clock (we've tried everything
I can think of).

But she's still pumping out 6 to 7 ounces when she pumps to empty, and
still has to take out 3 to 4 to be comfortable.

Where are those FILs when you need them?

Anything else I'm missing?
