Another way to address the resistance may be to give them MORE TIME to
process it...

We have been using the Birth and Beyond classes originally designed by Carol
Melcher  - and have found that her recommendations which include:
 - don't give classes until policies are in place
 - stress ATTACHMENT rather than breastfeeding at first - ALL mothers need
to be "attached" to their babies, so staff is less resistant to this than to
"breastfeeding"
 - give a 2 week break with "homework" of observing mothers and babies skin
to skin

This has helped a LOT - the next class allows time to process their reports
- often tears are shed as the staff report what they felt when they REALLY
observed a mother and baby for the first time...

...AND they realize that BABIES want to breastfeed - so it isn't their
instructors that are "ramming it down their throat" - they WANT to learn
what we have to teach - and isn't that essential in Adult Education?
