I think guilt in re breastfeeding is ultimately a good sign, because it=20=
shows an awareness of what the right action is, and a sense of shame that=
=20 one has chosen not to do it. I'm not sure whether it matters that
public=20= awareness campaigns are framed in terms of risks rather than
benefits -=20= the one always implies the other.<<<

 

Kathy, in a recent post, I indicated the reasons why talking about the risks
of ABM is more effective than talking about the benefits of BF or the risks
of NOT breastfeeding.  Many women don't see it as one and the same thing,
and I don't know why.  They do not make the connection between ABM and the
higher mortality and morbidity risks.  IMO, we who realize the connection
between ABM and adverse reactions need to stress that information to parents
and their families and healthcare providers.  As you indicated, "I think as
LC's we try daily to make a difference, and I love this part of my job."  It
is what we can do to educate the world one person at a time.  :-)
