You might suggest that this mother visit the following web site put out by
the Royal Women's Hospital in Australia:
  http://www.rch.org.au/wellwomens/whic.cfm?doc_id=2422. The site has some
information, albeit brief, in Chinese as well as a number of other languages
and is a very useful resource to keep on file. Some of the files are
available in printable PDF documents as well in case the mother does not
have Internet access.

There are also several English-speaking LLL groups in China who may be able
to assist you in suggesting resources and providing cultural information as
it relates to this situation. Their contact information can be found at:
http://www.lalecheleague.org/China.html.

Good luck with supporting this mother!

Kind regards,

Karen Spicer
in sunny and warm Tokyo, Japan
