Hello Friends,

I am new to LACTNET and have a few questionīs which I hope someone out there
can help me with.

I work overseas in a military regional medical center. My questions are
specific to the premature infant in a Neonatal ICU. Unfortunately all of our
Baby-Friendly Docīs have PCSīd (Left our hospital).

Recently, many questions have come up with new nurses7providers to the NICU
on how to start feeding a 32 week ``Premature`` infant. No one can agree on
how to start this. What is happening is they want the mother to Pump her
breastmilk and then start the infant out using a ``red``nipple or premature
nipple and bottle feed the infant until the IV TPN/ILīs are complete and the
infant is on ``FULL FEEDS``. We are pushing bottle feeding the
breastmilk and the infant can work on the breastfeeding later when it is
``STRONGER`` and momīs milk supply is in.
Does anyone have a breastfeeding protocal for feeders and growers in the
Level II nursery?
