I think the title a person has is useful in knowing how to evaluate his/her
statements. Of course when we know poeple, there is no need for titles -
when someone on the list mentions Jack Newman or Tom Hale - most of us know
who they are, even though there might always be some new members.
When others, less well known, members post, I would very much like to know
who and what they are, just like Patricia Gima wrote.

I work without a white coat, and have done so for years, and am called by
my first name by all my work associates (nurses, doctors, secretaries
etc.). This is very common here in Israel, and even some of my patients
call me just by my first name (the younger ones). Many call me Dr. Mira,
and some Dr. Leibovich.

I feel perfectly comfortable beeing adressed by my first name on Lactnet,
and use my initials on my signature just for those who don't know me, so
they can use this information to understand my viewpoint.

Mira
