Along the same lines.... If you have a mother who needs to pump within the first 2-3 days post delivery (example: baby in NICU) and the mother is using a hospital grade pump, at which vacuum setting do you suggest she use? I have heard many suggestions- #1 she should use the highest vacuum setting without pain, #2 she should use the lowest vacuum setting until her milk 'comes in' to prevent edema, #3 she should only use hand expression during the first few days. And, is there any formal research on this topic?

Thanks
Debbie
