I'm Dawn Martin, IBCLC, CD(DONA) in private practice in Austin, TX (hometown to the Baby 411 author -- but that's a whole 'nother post). I've just come back from "no mail" land -- things sure heated up when I wasn't reading.

I hope I can get some input on this issue. Primip mom gave birth at 40 wks gestation to a still born infant (infant exsanguination - autopsy pending). Unmedicated vaginal birth. She immediately began pumping and donating to the local milk bank. Developed a sore spot, later identified via ultrasound as a galactocele. She has a family history of breast cancer and is very cautious because of this. OB and Breast surgeon suggest aspiration to assure that it's a galactocele and surgical removal if it reappears. She'd like to avoid invasive procedures, is drying up her supply and will stop donating. Looking in several reference books I found nothing beyond what her doctors recommended. I spoke with a homeopath who gave me suggestions for two possible homeopathic remedies.

Other solutions for this mom? She'd like to have future children, and breastfeed them. I was thinking dietary recommendations as for plugged ducts to prevent formation and possibly a homeopathic remedy prophylactically following future births.

Poised for feedback....
