Just from experience - it also matters what TYPE of pacifier is used. I have noticed that babies who are using the pacifiers that are very narrow and thin at the 'face plate", tend to cause them to pull tongues back and retract when sucking with mom and increase the depth of the palate. Could be just a fluke that I'm seeing. Anybody else observe this?

Subject: Pacifiers and poor weight gain

Hi all.
I need case control studies showing poor weight gain or FTT associated with pacifier use. My goal is to prove pediatricians collegues of mine that its usage is not risk free, even past the initial 4-6 weeks.
