I have never heard this described before, but perhaps that is what is
responsible for the flush some women get after orgasm (another process
characterized by a large peak of oxytocin being released all at once).

A colleague of mine gets this flush all over her upper body and throat and
cheeks, whenever she is in attendance at a good birth.  Sometimes those
hormones are contagious.
