Someone was asking about references for pointing the baby's chin towards the
plug. Oddly enough, only this morning I was reading the WHO/Unicef 18-hour
course booklet, in preparation for an 8-hour course I will be doing for
health workers.
In Lesson 10 (Later Breast Problems) it says: "Suggest that the mother...
offer her baby the affected breast first, with the baby's chin pointed
toward the lump so that the tongue milks the affected area."
In the BFAB, I then found, on p. 420: "Riordan and Auerbach (p.381) suggest
that at least once during each feeding the mother position the baby so that
his nose points toward the plug."
Am I missing something? It seems to me that these two sugggestions are
mutually contradictory.
