Hi Jaye,

Remember when we do cpr, how we keep the head in a slightly sniff position,
so airway is open to fullest extent, but not over extended. Look at Newmans
position of asymetrrical latch, pretty good way to extend chin to breast. with
football bb face may be rotated forward so nose is smooshed into breast
which would increase stridor for any baby but making it worse in this little one.
head back chin tilt method for cpr.. almost the same when the bb comes to
the breast chin first...nose does not touch breast tissue.. I know you already
understand this Jaye, but I bet this bb isn't sleeping well and burning up
calories with air hunger. Once this is taken care of the bb will probably be
gaining to what is expected by doctor and maybe this is one of those times
that the slightly less than perfect weight is a red herron. Since this isn't a
completely healthy (anatomically) baby. Again, is this bb more sleepy than
the average bear. I wouldn't be surprised.... again this may be adding up to
a slight lag in weight... too sleepy to eat...Again it was your fine scenses that
this was not right... NOt to harp on the weight issue, but if that was what
was concerning the doctor at least that may get her to see a specialist asap.
keeping the face in a sniff position. Dont let bb bob head down to chest. be
careful in the carseat. That is the last position you would want. hold the
babies forhead back so he has a nice straight line, or slightly tilted back for
maximum air exchange. Thank God she was in your class.

please keep us posted
