"Only a doctor would call a fart flatus. Snort. Asparagus can also make
the
baby's farts stink.

Kathy D"

OK Kathy,
This is for you.
From the Merck Manual (kind of a Readers Digest of medical texts) 16th
edition, 1992 page 846:
"Among those who are flatulent to quantity and frequency of gas passage
shows great variability. ...In a study of 8 normal men aged 25 to 35 yr the
average number of passages was 13 +/- 4 in one day with an upper limit of
21/day.
This symptom which can case great psycho social distress is unofficially
described by its salient characteristics: (1) the "slider" (crowded elevator
type) which is released slowly and noiselessly sometimes with devastating
effect; (2) open sphincter or "pooh" type...(3) the staccato or dumb beat
type, pleasantly passed in privacy ...(4) the "bark" type..."
It goes on to describe Frenchman who preformed on stage.
