the other possibility for the grinding sensation in the baby's jaw and
base of the skull could be due to a birth injury to the neck.  Sometimes
the baby's skull becomes misaligned on the cervical axis. causing
grinding, and a great deal of pain.  Mom could also consider consulting
with a good chiropractor.
