Most babies in US stay 30- 48 hours (C-sec -72, and also depends on time of
day baby born :-( The AAP has been very firm in rec that babies be seen
with 48-72 hours of discharge for a weight and well being check (BF or not).
It took me about a year to get it to be routine in our office. (Remember
change is good etc.) The neos who see our babies in the hosp have been very
good about seeing that we know we have a baby who needs to be seen for 48-72
hour follow up. However, like everything else in USA, AAP's rec isn't a law
and many offices ignore their rec. When it used to be "so long, see you in
2 weeks" most of the moms were no longer BFing at the 2 week vss :-(

Seems to me with the power of the internet, Facebook, Lactnet, U Tube, etc
that a world wide Ban Nestle and formula in general could be effectively
mounted. We can't let Nestle invade China! BF there is low and doesn't
need to go lower. Asian moms in the worlds 2 largest countries (China and
India) don't need to be lied to by formula cos. Computer experts- how can a
campaign be launched with no money, but lots of good will? Pat in SNJ
