My comfort threshold for weight loss in a newborn is 7%.  I expect that many 
will lose up through day four.  I look for weight gain to begin at least by day 
five and then expect the baby to gain 4-7 ounces per week, hopefully back to 
birth weight by day 14.  Our babies are seen 48 hours post discharge and 
weighed.  If they are at a 10% loss they are being followed by a pediatrician
