Someone mentioned Torneys' work:
>Harry Torney's research (Prolonged, on-demand breastfeeding and dental
>>caries--an investigation. Tormey PH. 1992. M Dent Sc Thesis. Trinity
>>College, Dublin, Ireland)
If I recall accurately when he presented the findings of his thesis work at
the 1995 LLLI conference he said three things seemed to contribute to dental
caries: an exteme emotional stress to the mother such as a death, tooth enamel
defects, and the presence of strep mutans - particularly abundant when the
mother needs dental work done. Advise was to get caries repaired before the
baby was born.
Don't forget that a researcher in Connecticut presented this past summer at
the American Dental Association conference and said that his research showed
that strep mutans did not grow on lactose. I do not know if he has this
inforamtion published yet.
