We do skin to skin in the O. R. routinely for c/s but this is debatable. Since there is no time period set for what constitutes skin to skin, the nurse who is assigned to take care of the baby can use her discretion. It could be as brief as 2 minutes if she is wanting to get the "job" done with. She can then check off the box. I can't find information on what constitutes a length of time except for the 50 minutes average that it takes baby to latch. We can't have the c/s baby stay on mom 50 minutes logistically.
