TXDoula (name?) wrote that she cured her toddler of biting the
breast by smothering him briefly against her breast when he bit.
I don't know how the rest of you feel, but, altho I appreciate
Mom's pain and frustration, I wouldn't do this. A toddler can
understand quite a bit. I would refuse the breast for a
significant (to the toddler) time/no. of nursings and tell him
why (pumping/expressing to keep up supply), then ask if he will
be good, he can bf again. I have absolutely no experience with
this situation, I admit, but the smothering cure seems awfully
abusive to me, plus why make the breast a dangerous, threatening
place to be? Judy Knopf
