>I was asked a question that I thought to be an interesting one for all of
us.
Re the WHO children should be exclusively breastfed from birth up to around
6
months. But how about prematurily born babies? <

excellent question. A health visitor here in the UK said to me recently
that all the weaning leafelts for parents say to ask health visitors about
what age to start weaning babies who were premature. She says that she has
never had any guidance, and when a mum asked, she contacted a pediatric
dietician, who struggled to give a useful answer. So, never mind the new
recommendations -- how has it been worked out up to now? what is the
recommendation for age of beginning solids in your country, for full term
babies and for premature babies? In the UK the official recommendation is
not before 4 months and by 6 months for full term babies.

Nothing on prem babies. (This health visitor had looked in the COMA
(official) report)
