When we talk about cross-nursing, we should ask what the alternative
is.

> === I agree on this. I guess my concern is in connection with a specific situation I have in my area. There is a breastfeeding
support group which "offer" to nurse the babies of those they are
helping! Those babies have their own mother whose trying to establish a
good breastfeeding relationship. When the helper puts the baby to "HER"
breast I don't think it helps neither the baby nor the mother!
So as you see it is a different situation than when a relative takes
over because the mother cannot breastfeed for a reason or another.
In the situation I refer to,nobody is talking about the health risks or
asking personal questions about the sexual practice of the
cross-nurser!

"when my body did not immediately respond with a huge milk
supply, I gave up quite early."

===When it comes to mix feeding, I would really like to know what
really happens when you mix ABM and human milk. As for discouraging a
nursing mother of an adopted child, I wouldn't lose sight that we nurse
also for comfort, bonding and closeness and it is as valuable as nursing
"just" for food and immunity!
