This article
http://www.chron.com/cs/CDA/ssistory.mpl/ae/books/news/3396356
gives a head-up to a presentation at conference at the University of Houston
on Motherhood, to be held Oct 20-22, 2005
"21st Century Motherhood: Change."
http://www.friendsofwomen.org/motherhood/conference.html

In the article noted above, the author discusses the pressure to breastfeed:

"Political scientist Joan Gershon, of Texas A&M University, is bracing
herself for the reaction to the paper she'll discuss at the UH conference:
"Relative Risk: Breastfeeding, Medical Science, and the Mis-Measure of
Mothers."

What she found is bound to be wildly controversial, and she's careful to
state it properly on the phone. "Breastfeeding might be better for babies
than bottle-feeding," she says. "But the evidence doesn't show it."

(see 1st link above for more about this professor and her paper. She
basically stated that there are too many confounding factors (breastfeeding
moms are more likely to be betted educated, and therefore their kids eat
better, live healthier, etc)

(Scroll down to about midway of this long article, just under the cartoon,
for this specific discussion)

Perhaps its a good heads-up if this article reaches the media.

There will actually be a noon-hour debate on breastfeeding at this
conference,
(from the conference link above:
12:30-1:30pm Lunch (with breastfeeding debate)
Judy Hopkins (Baylor), "Supermom: the breastfeeding paradox"
Joan Wolf (Texas A&M), "Relative Risk: Breastfeeding, Medical Science, and
the Mis-Measure of Mothers"
