I think you may be on the right track thinking of "bucket baby." There was a
case here at my ped office some years ago of an 2 month old infant that
developed what the neurologist called infant anorexia. She was an Ezzo baby. Not
feed on cue, but by schedule. Feedings were never a source of comfort to her
and she finally just shut down and refused to eat. Another mother in
Washington State (after reading about the baby at our office in an Ezzo article in
Ladies Home Journal) contacted me for information as her six month old was
refusing to eat. He was also an Ezzo baby.

I think I would suggest that this baby be tube feed with a gastro-tube to the
stomach. If breastmilk isn't available then use a hypoallergenic formula.
Feedings should start out very small and over the hours and days slowly
increase volume. Baby's that don't eat well are like adult anorexia. The stomach
shrinks and the volumes of intake have to be slowly increased till the stomach
capacity can handle and keep the food down. Once the baby is up to the daily
caloric intake of 600-750 calories per day if no weight gain is occurring, I
think she should be seen by a neurologist and a genetic doctor. Proper calories
is very likely what she needs. She will probably also need OT to teach her
to like to eat. This is a very slow process and should not be hurried or
stressful to the baby. Our 2 month old took 23 months before her G-tube was
removed and she could eat herself.
