Here is an interesting link to the objections of the US to a campaign to
end obesity around the world. I'm sending it to Lactnet because I agree
that this issue has much in common with artificial feeding. You'll find
some eerily similar approaches.

I would add, though, that perhaps it is "unhealthy diets" that is the
more precise analogy. As some have mentioned, many factors play into
weight, whereas choosing a poor diet is an unhealthy, unnatural action
that many of us have trouble changing; diets have become less
appropriate over time in many countries, the junk food industry has lots
of money for marketing while farmers find it hard to make ends meet, and
bottle-feeding may lay the foundation for unhealthy habits.

I think we'll find it hard to find a big sample of exclusive
healthy-eaters to test our science on, though. :-)  And you thought
breastfeeding wasn't well-accepted!
