FLU VACCINE:The history of egg allergy is no longer a complete
contrindication for the flu vaccine. It is a risk benefit ratio a recent
study I read (sorry i don't have the citation) that actually watched the
effect of the vaccine on people that have documented skin test and dietary
intolerances to eggs. Of the 50 odd people who received the shot, none had a
reaction that would have prevented the shot from being giving in the future.
Acouple of precautions: 1) It should be give in a setting where treatment
for anaphylactic reactions is readily available O2, epinephrine, Basic life
support trained people. 2) the person should wait around for 1 hour after
this shot before leaving the area.
If some body really wants to know the citation, s3nd me p[rivate email and
I'll try to dig it up.

BF and Breast Cancer Risk
In my on going media watch about lactation and breastcancer, I recent noted
an article that did mention the associattion of lactation and risk reduction
in breast cancer. The magazine was HEALTH October 1995, "Is the Modern World
Giving Us Cancer" by AManda SPake, which tells alot about Devra Lee Davis.
The small BF citation is on page 54. I'll quote:
If a woman begins menstruating early, enters menopause
late,
never gets pregnant, never breast-feeds, or is obese, she'll be
exposed
to more estradiol, increasing her risk of breast cancer.

Three cheers for the mention albeit small!!! The article is intersting and
frightening about the impact that the chemicals may have in our increasing
rates of cancer.
