While I agree that it is common for a baby to fuss about twenty minutes
after a good feeding and that this signals they are ready to suck and go
to sleep, this does *not* correlate with over-feeding in the majority of
nursing couples I know, and using soothing techniques rather than
feeding is even more likely to correlate with under-feeding.

The twenty-minute thing is interesting, though. Isn't that the length of
time Sears suggests holding a baby before putting him down? I think I
remember it is the length of a certain part of the sleep cycle (help me
here) and, interesting, the ideal "power nap" for me is precisely what
we language teachers are told is the ideal length for one learning
activity before shifting.

I think our lives were meant to be divided up into 20-minute periods.
Sleep, eat, cuddle, read, sleep, eat, cuddle, read -- sound good to anyone?
