Purely anecdotal here. ..

My son had open heart surgery at 11 days of age and a frenotomy at 5 weeks. (
he didn't start breastfeeding until 3 wks -- only took 2 wks to get ENT lined
up). Due to his heart we did agree to do the frenotomy under general
anesthesia (with IV antibiotics). If they can do it on a cardiac patient at 5
wks I don't see why they cant do it on an otherwise healthy baby.
