Well since the site was brought up and this has been bugging me I will ask
your opinion on this. One of the articles on the site quotes the following
(see below)...my question/concern is why recommend Blistex? It seems a
little harsh to me when Lansinoh is so readily available. I have been
meaning to write to the site's owner, but don't know if I have a valid
concern. Thoughts/comments???? BTW direct link to the article is

TIA! Marimar

"Cracked Nipples

The best way to avoid cracked nipples is to learn how to breastfeed your
baby so that he is properly "latched on" and to learn how to properly use
your breast pump. As you are learning, if you do experience nipple cracks
use Blistex to heal them until the baby arrives. Once your milk comes in you
can use a little of your milk on your nipples to heal them. Breastmilk has
healing properties. When the baby arrives, you can use a product called
Purlan or Lansinoh that is safe for the baby and does not need to be removed
before breastfeeding. To prepare your breasts before you even begin to pump,
wash them everyday with a washcloth to toughen your nipples. Try to go
without a bra for part of the day so your clothes can rub against your
nipples. This will also help to toughen them. Continue to wash your breasts
everyday. Avoid soap as it has a tendency to dry out the nipples. Use a
"soap free" skin cleanser like Cetaphil."
