I also noticed she said if baby seemed to need it, to give a dose of
Motrin ( 1/4 tsp.). This is usually helpful with upper labial releases and
some posteriors, but may
not be as needed with the anteriors ( which this baby had, I showed mom
pictures and she immediately pointed to the Type 1.)

Hello all,
Just to clarify, I was not saying I tell moms to use Motrin, I was saying I
think pain relief of some kind can be helpful if baby seems to be in pain
after a PTT release or Upper Labial one. The pediatric surgeon who I
consider the pioneer of recognizing and treating these restrictions, Dr.
Elizabeth Coryllos ( with her colleague Cathy Genna) used to tell parents to give
appropriate-for-weight dose of infant Tylenol, one sometimes prior to the
visit, and regularly for 24 hours afterwards. That was in 2004, and these
procedures and treatments and after-care instructions, as Jennifer Tow said,
continue to evolve as we learn more.

Peace,
Judy
