Regarding these responses to my recent post:From:    Patricia Berg-Drazin

Subject: Re: conferences

While out walking this am it occurred to me that the statement " we
can't afford a conference without commercial support"  sounds very
similar to the hospital administrations " we can't run the hospital
without commercial support"

warmly.

Right on!

This is why I asked the question about costs with or without commerical
entities.  Where can we find out the cost of having exhibitors-space etc. vs how
much $ they bring in through their fees?  It is great that some have been able
to put on wonderful conferences without any commercial entities being involved
and it would be perfect if we could do so with the ILCA conferences.  However,
one must ask---.  Will this apply here?  Can it apply with a conference the size
of ours?   It's easy to make idealistic comments-what I called a "purist"
approach, but before making a pronouncement on either side of the issue, I'd
like to know the actual cost/benefit facts.
