My son called nursing "Uhm". I think it came from me saying "Is that mmm
delicious?" when he would start drinking. One day I ran downstairs to
put wash in the dryer, leaving him behind the baby gate at the top of
the stairs. He called me a few times, and I reassured him that I would
be right up, and when it took me more than a few seconds, he started to
say "Uhm, mama!", figuring that I would come right away if he told me he
needed to nurse.
Babies are SMART.
