Gloria, thanks for sharing your warm story. I long for the day that US (and
other) mothers will, with comfort and peace, feed their children at their
breasts wherever and whenever the little ones need it. I work with so many
moms who are breastfeeding but feel ambivilant about it because of the
cultural rejection. I'm sure they breastfeed for a shorter time and get less
joy from it because of these feelings.

They receive mixed messages--breastfeeding is best for the baby, but be sure
your *breast* is not involved in it.

As for the artistic expression, a friend said that a sculptor did a
beautiful carving of a Madonna and baby for their church. It is in the
entrance to the church and some women have complained loudly about it
because "why did he have to give it those BIG breasts?"

Well, at least he did it, and it is still there.
