Do any of you have any experience with mothers with the synovitis variant of
juvenile rheumatoid arthritis? I am trying to find information, encouraging
or otherwise, for a woman who has been told she should either start
methotrexate treatment or get pregnant as soon as possible (pregnancy being
the only reason not to start the chemo), and that she should count on BF for
'as short a time as possible' because her rheumatologist fears the effect of
BF hormones on her rheumatic disorder. She has had surgery on one elbow
joint, and two operations on each of her knees, and is not able to work more
than half time at present because of her synovitis. She very much wants to
BF if she does have a child.

Of course I have encouraged her to ask the doctor for references that
support his fears, and I have reminded her that it's hard to make
predictions, especially about the future. Now I want to know if anyone has
first-hand experience with women with this condition who have breastfed.
