Carla,
you make some good points. I once took my 9 mo old to a small local
conference where I knew just about everyone and it was quite difficult becoz
she was active and I had to keep leaving the room so as not to distract
participants, but just by coming in and out that is distracting in itself.
If your child is quiet and nurses alot you could perhaps nurse him alot
during the conf. Perhaps get permission to have him attend. Of course find a
seat near an exit and have a place for him to sleep, perhaps a stroller that
converts into a bed, or is he too big for that.
It is more important to meet his needs, so forgoing the conf. is not the end
of the world., as you know, there will be others. If you stay on lactnet and
follow every lead to every article and website that is mentioned, you will
learn a tremendous amount. Try to find shorter courses to attend or do some
self-study modules. Your time will come and you will be so glad you mothered
your baby first.
