We are supplied with shapeless, wrinkly white cotton 2-piece uniforms.
There are no zippers or buttons or fasteners of any kind on top or pants.
The tops have 3 pockets. The pants have one but it's inaccessibly placed
under the top. All nursing care staff and midwives and physical therapists
and porters and cleaners wear them. Docs wear lab coats and white pants.
So do social workers and the librarians. Administrators and the IT people
wear their own clothes.
It would be too expensive for all of us to have our own special costumes, so
we wear name badges where our title is clearly displayed.
It's quite egalitarian and very frumpy. We are not permitted to use our own
clothes on duty.
So if you were thinking of emigrating because of the dining room we have for
mothers, but are used to being a fashion plate at your place of work, you
might want to think twice.
