I need big help on this one!
I had a mom call me this am. She had a problem with a condom
breaking, so her doctor prescribed the high-level estrogen pills (she wasn't
sure of brand name). She has taken 4 pills for two days in order to
discourage implantation of any possibly fertilized egg. She was also
advised to pump and dump during these two days.
Now she has noticed a dramatic decrease in her milk supply
(surprise, surprise). She called me in tears because she thought the
decrease was due to the fact that she had only pumped 3x during her 2 days
of dumping and pumping. I hated to tell her that estrogen cuts into milk
supply because she was already so down, but, when I did, she became angry
that none of the three doctor she spoke with even mentioned that this might
happen. Apparently the three of them argued heatedly over the timing on the
pump and dump issue, and whether or not the baby would be exposed to
estrogen, and whether or not estrogren exposure was harmful...
SO,,,(1) Will high levels of estrogen still be present in her milk?
             (2) Is this problematic?
             (3) How long before it's out of her system completely?
             (4) How long, with extra pumping, before her supply bounces back?
             (5) How much is a good dose of funugreek, how many times a day?
             (6) Any other suggestions?
This mom is highly motivated, but seems very depressed about this.
She has a tough home situation, economically and emotionally (mom of 4, one
w/a case of ADD and extreme acting out behavior).
Any help would be greatly appreciated!

        TIA -Brenda-WIC PC
